Every time we open the front door, head out into the yard or go out on a walk-about, there seems to be something lurking around the corner to surprise one of us. It could be good or it could be bad.
Either way it’s a surprise……
Ever wondered what a mole looks like in real life…well not so “life” like.
No the mole didn’t eat the soccer ball, Nero did…..
Our landlords eat everything fresh. In fact my landlord goes to the alimentari, (local grocery store) everyday to pick up fresh mozzarella, pane (bread), and pasta for lunch. The boys, her husband and son, come home from work everyday to eat lunch. She cooks them a full meal. Italians eat their biggest meal in the middle of the day. Then they go back to work. So that means they also eat the chickens and rabbits they raise fresh. They go out to the barns right before a meal and get dinner. One of these days I will get the courage and watch how real butchers do it but until then, I will view the remains that the dogs drag into our yard.
I wonder who did this to the cat?
Was it you Nero?
Never ending surprises on our Italian families land. From wildlife to the growing trash along the street; the trash problem deserves a blog of its own. In the movie, Under the Tuscan Sun, Diane Lane finds a snake in her Italian Villa. Yes, it is just a movie, but every time I hear one of these lizards scurry through the bushes on a walk, I think of the snake in that movie. For all my friends who think we live in Tuscany, think of Cozumel and Tijuana. Both are located in Mexico but are very different.
Enough surprises for today, I think I will slither away…..
